I'm going to have B.R. Surgery but am wondering if I should sneak away for a week or so during the summer (without my boys 8 &10) and hope that I'm okay for the rest of the summer. It probably would only be 2-3 weeks post surgery before seeing my husband again (who's deployed). Or should I wait until after summer, have my boys there during the recovery period and have my husband not see until next year. On one hand, it may interfere with the rest of our summer plans. On the other hand, my boys would have to witness my recovery. What does everyone think?

You should have surgery when you are not expecting to travel for at least two months. More if there are complications.

So have the vacation before you get surgery.

There is a link right below that will help you figure out your plans:

Great advice in that post... and lots of information and support at that forum.

I don't know why everyone seems to think the recovery period is so awful. I guess it varies person to person, but my recovery period was a piece of cake. Actually so was my sisters. However if you feel the need to get away for a week go for it.
