~It's not the same with every girl. When I started, I had a heavy flow too. Don't worry, it will slow down, then stop.
You need to let your mom or another woman know, so she can help you.
There is no reason to be afraid, it's been going on before children were born.~

Yes, having periods for a time can be normal, especially when starting out. The reason is because the body is trying to adjust to the changes going on inside. It takes about 2 years or so for the periods to regulate themselves.

However, if you are starting to have cramps that make it hard to function you can try a heating pad and also upping the level of iron during this time by eating things like spinach, raisins, peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course).

Also, please tell your mom so that she can give you additional information.

And if you do have cramping and none of the things I suggested works please tell your mom because then it needs to be evaluated by a dr to see what they think is going on.

i understand i had my first period at 8yrs old mine were heavy every now and then im 18 now i had a period so heavy and long it lasted 3 wks the cramps were unbarable but i went to a doctor and he said i had over active ovaries plus im annemic so that didnt help go to a doctor if its too heavy he will more than likely suggest birthcontrol its not only for prevention from babies but it helps regulat periods or he'll perscribe a med that youll have to take for 3weeks that should help thyem level out but i wouldn't wry at the moment wait til your next period then talk to your mom about seeing a doc if it hsnt changed

Yeah its okay i got my period when i was 12. They might be heavy at first, belive me your period is realy confusing. But if they get too too bad then you should go to the doctor. But my period is sometimes heavy too.
