And why are so many willing to be acceptive of this?

I am not saying that all white people are ashamed. I am saying we are expected to be ashamed. We are taught that we are responsible for slavery. The media portrays us as evil, racist, hate mongers. And some white people are so quick to jump to the aid of another race to be against white people.

I am not ashamed. Recently the new Governor of Arkansas was put on the spot to officially apologize for slavery. Hummm, that seems a bit ridiculous if you ask me considering how long ago slavery has been abolished.

How come every town must have at least one street named Martin Luther King or MLK but I dont see any that say Robert E. Lee.

Why hasn't the Northern states of America had to apologize for killing off southern men and then raping their wives during the civil war?

I have a Confederate flag flying 24/7 as well as the Arkansas state flag and the American flag. It is a reminder of all the men, women, and children who died in the civil war. I am not ashamed of anything

Why? Because the media brands us as evil racists - every year, we have holidays like Martin Luther King Jr's Day where the whole day consists of people talking about how the black man defeated the white man and rose to the top. We have days like Cinco de Mayo, an entirely FOREIGN holiday where people celebrate the defeat of our French cousins by the Mexicans.

Also, I should say that the only reason the white man is an "exploiter" is that he has historically been the one to possess enough power to do it. Why do people not point out Genghis Khan? The Moors? The Turks? The white genocide in South Africa/Zimbabwe after the black Government took over? The Chinese enslaving Africans in certain parts of Africa? African tribesmen fighting wars and stealing land from their neighboring tribes? African leaders exploiting their people, leaving Africa primitive and poverty-stricken? Abuse of lower classes in India by those of a higher caste? Africans selling their OWN people to the American slaveshippers? Those are few times when non-whites have possessed power, and look what they did with it - just imagine that on a GRAND scale like what we whites have had.

The main difference I see, is that whites eventually wake up to what they're doing and either try to help the natives or create strong, functioning nations for them and the natives to live in (ie USA). Whenever in history you hear of a non-white people gaining the upper hand - they are cruel and ungiving, taking only for themselves.

In short, it's time to stop white guilt. Enjoy your beautiful native white cultures and accomplishments, and don't let any talk of racism or PC damage any of that - you are unique, and nothing your ancestors did should spoil that.

The white spirit needs to be FREE.

I am not ashamed of anything that I had absolutely no part or control in. In some cultures (some Native American) the offspring are supposed to bear the shame of an ancestor for up to seven generations, but as for me I think this is absurd. I wasn't born to stop any misdeeds by my ancestors so I couldn't possibly have stopped them, and I sure as heck didn't help them either, so I am NOT responsible. Good question!

Why should u be ashamed? That wasn't ur fault. Waving a confederate flag is shameful. It's like saying all the bad things that white fore fathers did was A-ok.

It is a syndrome that is often known as "white mans burden". Notice it doesn't say white persons burden, because we are often taught to regret what white men have done in the past. I don't feel this burden, as I try not to relive the sins of the past. I can't feel bad for something I didn't do, all I can try and do is treat every one as people and humans.

I don't think people expect us to be ashamed. But we should acknowledge that white people have systematically exploited people of other races for a long time, and we have a responsibility to work to end racism.

What you really mean is why should we be ashamed when there is nothing to be ashamed of?
I, for one, am not accepting to any untruths about anyone.

becuz we have finally realized the hurt we forced upon ppl of other races...which includes violence, discrimination, and hate.... this ashames most of us. even tho it was our ancestors that commited these crimes, we still feel part responsible being a member & descendant of that same race.
