Sandstorm, are you Amish or the type of Fundamentalist Christian who believes EVERY word of the Bible is law? No, I don't believe that! In fact, when I was 18, I unfortunately got involved with a horrible church (more like a cult) called The Church Of Christ. They were against: music of any kind- they believed human voices were the only holy *music* God approved of. The women were encouraged to cover their hair with a scarf because the sight of a woman's hair might tempt the men and it would be the WOMAN'S fault. The same went for women wearing white pants because you were somehow tempting the men because they could see your panty line! It was and is ridiculous. They didn't wear gloves. What, are the hands somehow a temptation to men as well? To cover their hair and hands out of respect for men or for God? So silly.

Russian church thinks it is disrespectful to come to a church (especially russian) wearing troussers and no cloth covering their head.
Women should wear skirts (knee length),tops (long sleeve),a cloth covering their heads, wearing a cross (not so much neccessary) and I even heard that the women that are having their "time of the month" are not allowed in the church, but I am not sure about that one!
Though I never heard of the glove part!

If they feel they should than yes, if not than no. GOD gives people the right to choose. If you feel it is right than chances are it is OK if no than GOD may be trying to tell you something.
In my personal opinion modesty character wise is all that matters, yet I do not believe you should go to church in a mini skirt and tube top either.

Many believe that a woman's hair is her God given glory. I don't know why it should be covered. nor their hands. Why is that a sign of respect?

No.

But I think you,Sandstorm, should wear a paper bag over your head when you go to church. Basically to cover your hair out of respect and modesty and other reasons.

I believe it should be the parishoner's choice. In my religion (Lutheran), we're very casual. People wear jeans to church.
