Some people actually believe the earth is flat too. And, incidentally, the flat earth society were the first ones to call the moonlanding a hoax. After all the pictures from the moon clearly showed earth as a sphere. Must be faked then. So they sued NASA... The people today that say the moonlandings were faked have about as much scientific knowledge as the flat earth society.

Like the ones that seem to think space is radioactive. It isn´t. There is a difference between radioactivity and radiation. Ligth is radiation. Doesn´t mean it´ll kill you or make you radioactive.

The radiation belt, or Van Allen belts (there are two), consist of charged particles (not rays at all) from the sun. Mostly protons. They are trapped there as the solarwind (containing the particles) blasts earths magneticfield. The Apollo capsules were made out of aluminium which is actually pretty good at stopping big protons. The Apollo astronauts did get some radiation but no more than you would have gotten from a few chest x-rays at the time. The astronauts would report flashes in their eyes that they would see sometimes when their eyes were closed. These flashes were caused by particles slamming into their eyeballs. Since then several astronauts has developed cataracts and cancer. Some, like John Swigert of Apollo 13, even died from cancer. Knowing the risks and knowing what we know now the Apollo astronauts still would have gone to the moon. To say it was all a hoax is to make a joke out of their sacrifice and effort. Pay no more attention to the hoaxers. They don´t deserve any. The Apollo astronauts, however, do.

I don't know anyone. I know we landed there. The thing with the radiation belt is that they were in there for a short time and the radiation was low.

I think people believed this mostly because for one reason it was during a time of many conspiracies, and secondly because we where in a space race with Russia, and that would be a great way to get the upper hand.

We have landed on the moon, some people may not believe, but, I think mostly they just like to argue.

We didn't land on thew moon, the holocaust never happened, WTC 7 fell due to controlled demolition by the CIA: what other idiotic conspiracy theories are we going to continually revisit?

I have an Astronaut friend and tells, me that, yes, we DID land on the moon. There are always non-believers. If they don't want to believe, so be it. No one has an ax at their head.
