Unfortunately there are not only 3 categories for Science. In the Nobel Prizes, originally there were 3. They were:
1. Physics
2. Chemistry
3. Physiology or Medicine
Later there was a science prize introduced in the field of Economics.
So in terms of the Nobel prize, before 1967, there were only 3 seperate categories for Science. However, there are many many different categories for Science in which you can study at university, such as:
Mathematics, Biology, Social Science (Psychology, etc.), Nanoscience and many more.

If you were to answer any 3, perhaps the first three I have listed would be correct, but the people that work in the other fields of science would be very upset.

If you would like more information on the nobel prize go to:
nobelprize.org
Because I think some references to the Nobel Prize would really help you with your answer.

Hope this helps...

This is a rather broad question...but I think you're referring to Qualitative, Quantitative, and analytical science.
1. Qualitative is like psychology where data is gained by observing. The data is the "quality" of something.

2. Where as Quantitative is like chemistry or physics where data is gained through measurements. You can measure the amount reacted or the force being exerted. Quantitative deals with quantities hence it's measurable.

3. The third, and I may be wrong, is analytical science like library and information science. Data here is already there but must be interpreted. In information science you analyze the data that which you have to formulate a conclusion or a course of action.

These are the three branches of science:

Biology is the study of life. It contains such topics as classifying the various forms of organisms, how species come into existence, and the interactions they have with each other and with the natural environment.

Chemistry is the science treating matter at the atomic to molecular scale, the reactions and transformations of matter, as well as accompanying energy changes during these processes.

Physics is the branch of science concerned with the discovery and characterization of universal laws which govern matter, energy, space, and time.

I am aware of only 2 classifications, pure (theoretical) and applied science.

Occupation wise, a scientist can be a teacher, a theoretical researcher or an experimental scientist.
