Yeah, Bettman has been the worst possible thing for the sport. His ridiculous expansion crippled the economy of the game, he turned his back on the old greats of hockey be changing campbell and wales conference and the division names to east and west. Thanks to him, the vast majority of the games are being played on the power play. I have no problem with the fact that you need to call penalties, but 12 powerplays a game, for each team?! That is absurd!!! This is a man, for crying out loud, who wanted to make hockey into a 4 quarter game, instead of 3 periods. Then, the worst problem with all of this, the owners like him..... How this is, I will never know, but the owners seem to think that he is a brilliant business man. Under Bettman, there have been 2 lockout shortened/cancelled seasons. I don't know about you, but to me, that isn't a very good record. He needs to go, and he needs to go now. Somebody needs to put in there who knows what makes hockey great and can market those things to the people to make it more popular. Not somebody who, like bettman, will try and make it more like the NBA (where bettman came from) because they think that's more appealing to the people. Hockey has a lot to offer, and that is what needs to be sold to the people, and Bettman doesn't cut it!!

Bettman has destroyed hockey. It will take years to fix the mess he has created. How it has been put up with for so long is beyond me. This season is the worst. Viewership during the regular season down 40% I'm in business, and if I delivered a negative 40%, I would be out of a job. What a great game 5 we had. Could you have imagined if you had never seem a game before, or perhaps only a few before that one. You would have been hooked. 8 goals scored, a penalty shot, an arena of screaming fans, the celabration, the handshake. But less than 2 million people watched, and if you did a survey, perhaps 1% are new to the game. The Vs. decision. The two lockouts. The bankrupt teams. How much more damage can the league take?

The Capo>>>>scoring is down from least 12 months definite 2005-06 season yet its way greater then until now the lookout. merely undergo in innovations that the NHL replaced into third on the checklist interior the late 80's early ninety's in North American activities in the back of baseball and American soccer. then Bettman got here visiting then the NHL replaced into on strike in his first finished season as Commish and then the league greater thank you to speedy and now the NHL 15 years later is interior the backside interior the North American activities. its nevertheless presently the 2d maximum performed interest world huge. if we can do away with some communities that of course do not deserve a team and get an exceptionally stable television settlement interior the U. Blame the owners, they hired him.
I have lost most of my interest in the league. Two line passes were okay, even standardized goalie equipment. It was bad enough that they took defense out of the game, but now they want to change the nets. Its just crazy.
There are too many teams, too much parity and mediocrity.
Before the lockout, the Flyers were one of the better teams that had a reasonable shot at winning it all. Now, the game has left them behind and Ed Snider has no clue how to adapt.
SNIDER MUST GO !!!!!

Many are amazed that he is still commish, but the owners are greedy nut cases who seem to not care about the sport. Getting an NBA guy like Bettman was stupid from the start. He is a creation of the owners and they can get rid of him. but why if all they are about is short term greed and not the sport. I agree with YOU 100%.

Yeah, but the only way to send the message to Bettman is to stop going to games, watching it on tv, and buying the merchandise. It's like those "don't buy gas from so-and-so station at so-and-so day" in an effort to bring prices down; that's just not going to happen.

He is only doing what his bosses; the owners, want him to do. Fortunately the guys with really deep pockets like Balsille, Wang, Melnyk et al, can afford to be a little less short-term so maybe things will improve.

You're not alone. Hell, I'd do a better job of running the NHL than this guy.

People who don't like him should go on strike. Maybe that will make him leave?
