Hide the cd or return it to my niece and let her know that you do not allow your daughter to listen to this type of music.

Go from there ... you are the parent.

Nothing, really/. It's just a music. Maybe she won't even like it. Get her another CD and maybe she will like it more and listen to this one instead of Manson. Also, tell her that Manson is kind of like out of season (out of fashion) now days and is not considered to be cool anymore by the teenagers (a true fact). It looks like the 23-years old still seems to have those out-of-date tastes in music.

I would send the CD back to her with a nice note, telling her that the CD is on your disapproved list. Thank you for the thought, but my daughter won't be able to accept your gift.

you take it away and return it for a c.d. you approve of.....although, marilyn manson is freaky, he does not say anything hateful about any particular groups of people...i would try listening to it before i outruled it....this is coming from someone who does not like marilyn manson and has kids...if it matters

There's not much you can do-that puts you in a bad situation since it's your daughter's birthday. If anything I'd have a talk with your niece! Hope it works out!
