It's a toss up between the QUEEN MARY 2 & FREEDOM OF THE SEAS. Here are the statistics:
QM2: 23 storeys tall; can carry 2,620 passengers who pay $185,000 PER PERSON for an 81 day voyage around the world (so full ship would equal $484,700,000--yes, BILLIONS); 1,250 crew members; 1,132 feet long; 3.5 times the size of the Titanic; has 10 restaurants, 5 swimming pools, has the largest library and ballroom at sea; and weighs about 150,000 gross TONS. It replaced the QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 in overall size . When it docked at Sydney, Australia recently, it was too tall to go under the Sydney Harbor Bridge.
FREEDOM OF THE SEAS claims it is the largest passenger ship now. It has only 15 storeys in height; is 1,111 feet long; cost $800 million to build; weighs 160,000 gross tons; has 1,400 crew members; features a casino, discos, swimming pools, ice-skating rink, restaurants, arcades, and passengers can go surfing on deck; a 7-day cruise costs $1,900 per COUPLE (or $133,000) in an interior room during "low" season to $2,500 per couple (or $175,000) for a cabin with a balcony during "high" season. The Presidential family suite costs $22,000 and sleeps 14. There are times that some airports cannot be used when this ship is nearby, because of its height interfering with flight paths of airplanes.
