my old laptop would just change from ac power to battery power when i unpluged it. but my toshiba satellite turns off when i unplug it from ac. how can i make it so it just goes to battery power when i unplug it?
my battery is good. its new. and if i just turn on my laptop without having it connected to the ac power it works just fine. i just cant keep it on once i disconnect it. it just completely shuts down. it doesnt go on standby it shuts down. the problem is not my battery.

i encountered that problem too but not that often...sometimes, when there is a power interruption, the laptop just goes off instantly...It's not a problem...It could be that the battery cant cope up...if its often, it could be in your adaptor..

Have you tried going to Power options in Control panel? You can set up options in there usually.

you may have a problem within the circuit you may need to have it repaired because I think that all are suppose to switch automatically.
