No. That question has been popping up a lot on these question sites for a couple of years and it is absolutely NOT true. Some women want to believe that they feel their baby's heartbeat on their body somewhere, but what they are actually feeling is their own pulse, which can be felt on different points all over your body. The baby is surrounded by fluid. There is no way a baby's heartbeat could be felt through that.

You usually can't hear the heartbeat with a stethoscope until after 20 weeks but you need to have a very good stethoscope. I still couldn't hear my baby's heartbeat at 30 weeks.

I had had two babies but I could only feel them move. No heartbeat apart from the time I went to the doctor and I heard it via a device.

I've heard that you can but it's when they are much larger. I wonder how it could be possible but I guess I'll know in another month or two... of course, I think some think they feel it when they feel their own pulse so you have to be aware of what the difference is between how fast your own pulse is and how fast a babys is... some ppl feel their own pulse from the major artery that runs through our abdominal cavity and think it's their babys. I wonder how they could think something that strong and slow (compared to what a babys heartbeat should be) could be a babys pulse.

No, but my husband can hear the baby's heartbeat separate from mine when he puts his ear to my belly. I thought I felt it once, but the doctor told me she was hiccuping!

I can hardly feel my own heartbeat... I think it would be neat, though not really necessary to feel the baby's.

You can't, some people think the pulse you feel stronger in your abdomen during pregnancy is a heartbeat...it's your pulse.
