Get your fill of both now then since there are no Steak N Shake in California and don't think Sonic is there either. My personal choice is Steak N Shake.

Steak n Shake! How can you like Sonic's shakes better?????? Steak n Shake's shakes are the best! The only fast food shakes I really like. Sonic is good for corn dogs, chili dogs, cheddar peppers.. but for burgers and fries, Steak n Shake is MUCH better.

steak n shake is better for the burger, but i saw none of the two in cali. maybe on the way to cali in some states. i used to go to sonics just for a drink or chili cheese tots. none near where i'm at now. while in cali, i agree that the best is in n out. my favorite is the double double animal style combo with the shakes.

I would pick Steak and Shake. Never been to Sonic. They have a couple of other places you might want to check out. I wish I could pass along the names.

If you want a good shake, then Steak N' Shake. But Sonic has the better burger, in my humble opinion.

steak n' shake. They make better quality food in general, and are not as fast food as sonic.. but you can't beat sonic's shakes!! Sonic's burgers are a bit on the greasy side in comparison.

No Steak N' Shake locations in California. While out there try In-n-out great fresh hot burgers and fresh cut fries. Fatburger based in LA also makes a great burger. Carl's Jr. or even Jack-in-the-Box do a good job and aren't in some areas of the US, Hardee's is Carl's in the east.
