Section 82 of the Indian Penal Code clearly provides Act of a child under seven years of age.--Nothing is an
Offence which is done by a child under seven years of age.
When the very fact it is not a crime for 5 years old boy to steal how can he be charged for the offence of theft of gold ring in India? The question of any limitation time to file a complaint is a there is an offence committed, in this case there is no offence committed by the child of five years.

i do not know indian law. i believe it is 7 years in the U.S. but i can't imagine anyone filing a complaint against a five year old child. what is the value of the ring ? is there not a way to resolve the issue in talking to the parent ? rather than involving the authorities ?
