when are you neo/cons gonna learn...there were dems who voted to go to war,,,,me for one...because your BOY bush lied to us...point blank and when we found out what he told us was not true (W of MD) I for one was infuriated as were a lot of others. And don't be acting like it's some small little detail or that they found WMD's. No, they never did because there were none and that would have been a big deal if there were and many of us would have stayed loyal to the war effort.. You neo/cons are sooo stupid...

I have relatives who couldn't join the military due to medical reasons. Does that mean they shouldn't have a say in what happens? You know that most soldiers will say "yes" to war, because otherwise we'll just be sitting around like the Maytag repairman in those commercials. That would mean that the military would be voting on whether or not we would go to war or not. That's a dangerous concept that could be taken to the extreme. Using that logic, the military could vote to take the US over, since no one else has SET foot on a battlefield. By the way, I went to Iraq, my cousin went to Iraq, my uncle went to Afghanistan, and my brother is in Iraq now.

Clinton ordered the bombing of Iraq and he never wore a military uniform. Neither did Franklin Roosevelt.

We don't live under a dictatorship and the president didn't take us to war all by himself. Congress, including many Democrats, authorized the use of force. If the American people come to disagree with that decision (as they apparently have), they have and will remedy the situation via the ballot box.

Americans are too quick to ignore opinions that conflict with the instinct for revenge and this makes them blind to the facts. The reason this country went to war in Iraq was that a sense of anger and frustration was sweeping this country like a plague at that time. Out came the Flags and the drums beat for war. Almost no one in Congress dared speak out against the war because they knew the American people would skin them alive for doing so.

So, my Fellow Americans, let's not blame any one person or party for getting us into this mess. The unthinking, emotional reaction of the public in general so prevalent then was as much to blame as any other relevant factor.

Just look at the attendance roles in the House of Representatives, and the Senate. Seeing that almost all of the senators and representatives voted to authorize the war, its really hard to place all of the blame on a hand full of individuals.

If we only let the people who've gone to war vote for war, we'd only have a small voting percentage. The truth is as it's always been; old men sit behind desks and figure out ways for young men to die on the field.

From what I remember, all the administration officials that actually had military records were the ones that opposed the war.
