I have trouble expressing myself articulately when someone tries to make me look bad or shame me for something. This is my biggest fear in the world, not being able to explain myself and make others see the truth about myself or others when I am attacked. I live in fear of getting into arguments with people like this, especially catholics. It's easy for me to express myself in writing, but when I am in the moment, it is harder to do and I get a lump in my throat and I get pissed off.

Ignore them. Write your feelings in a journal, don't bottle it up, it's not healthy. And be proud of who you are even if your past or present situation looks ugly.

IN MY OPINION IGNORING THEM WONT HELP B/C IF YOUR ANYTHING LIKE ME WHAT THEY HAVE SAID WILL COME BACK AND BOTHER YOU A LOT. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD JUST GO SOMEWHERE THAT YOU'LL BE ALL ALONE B/C THIS HELPS ME. I GO SOMEWHERE WHERE I KNOW THAT IM BY MYSELF AND I JUST SCREAM OUT EVERYTHING THAT IM MAD ABOUT AT THE TIME. I ALSO USED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE NOW BUT AFTER I DID THAT I HAVE A EASIER TIME EXPRESSING MY FEELINGS WITH PPL AND NOT CARING WHAT THEY THINK.

Why would you fear this.. have confidence in yourself... If anyone slanders or "attacks" you there's two general explainations a) they are defending somthing they believe in b) they are insecure and have fear themselves..... if you believe in what you are defending this should be easy for you...best bet is to turn arguements into debates.. arguing generally is a waste of time/emotion.

The best way is to remember that you do not need the approval of people you do not respect.

Can't imagine how sweet little catholics could get you upset, or could ever attack you, but for all parties, my advice is in the same.

Also, work on clarifying your ideas, in writing as you say is good for you. When you really have your ideas clear, your facts orderly, and your ducks in a row, you'll be able to speak more clearly in public. Getting older helps - I used to be unable to talk without crying about things that really mattered to me. Can't reach too many people that way, but one just has to grow up and sometimes all one can do is let time pass, stay self-aware, and keep striving to do better.

And remember not to let the fatherless children get you down.

Best thing is to stay away from those people... and if they do attack you like that then you should not stay quiet, try your hardest to defend yourself, becauz not only will you feel satisfied, but it'll teach them a lesson!

This is a good site to vent that. Ignore them and succeed in an honorable way. These jerks will then want to be your friend.

The best way to defend yourself is " By Not Talking at All". When you talk you get yourself in more trouble because you either can't control your words or can't control your emotions. When you treat those challenges with nonchalance, it's your victory because it implies that you don't care at all with what the hypocrites have been bombarding you. You don't have to defend yourself, just move on and prove to them that " you are not ! what they are saying ". They will soon get tired and will have a taste of what you call your " sweet revenge ". Don't get back at them, let God works His discipline on them.
