yes. i had to take the bus because both of my parents were working. i was walking into the school and it was raining and i didn't want to look up because i hated getting my face wet and i walked right into the flag pole.

Didn't go to kindergarten---in 1961 it was not mandatory and the ones did go to a church offered kindergarten only went for 3 hours, two days a week.
I do remember the first day of first grade.

Yes, and I was wondering why all the other kids were crying- I thought what is going on here- isn't this a good thing this kindergarten? They tried to give me anxiety but I was happy

No, but I do remember a wooden slide (indoors) and the presence of a collie dog in the classroom. Geez! That's over 60 years ago!

OMG! Yes, and it was 31 years ago.
I even remember the smell of pencil shavings and crayons in the classroom.

Yes. I didn't have a clue what was going on. The teacher asked all the girls to stand and I stood with them. I didn't really hear the question, I just saw half the room standing up and stood up with them. The teacher said "Your'e a boy, sit down."

not really, but i went to a private school and they had a summer camp there and i remember my first day there. (before i started kindergarten.)

I do remember it. My mom was hovering and I was like--"Mom go. I am fine. LEAVE!" I didn't cry--I wanted to be there. Which my mom told me that it made her sad that I was pushing her away.
My son did me the exact same way on his first day.

yes, it was so awful, i remember i begged my mom to stay with me and all the kids were laughing at me because i was crying. at recess i got hit in the face with a soccer ball, and i wasn't even playing soccer...oh my god, i don't even know how i remember that....so terrible.
