It is quite possible to spend days or even weeks feeling nothing at all. My ex husband and I lost a child...or rather he was not born living. I can not describe the weeks just before and after Williams birth. Except for the empty sadness I remember very little. Being too upset leads to being too sad. Being too sad leads to depression. Depression is a hell that is best left behind you and strictly guarded against returning. I know the signs and I will be the first to ask for help if those signs ever return. Never allow yourself to not feel pain. It has its place in a healthy life. That beings said...don't let the pain have your power.

Yes, but then when I've calmed down, all the pain I couldn't feel before comes all at once.
And, aaww...dalia, you seem sad lately....I'm sorry.

Does breaking your leg and driving home in a pick-up truck count? Yes, I've been there.
