Yes, but in a way that's a good thing. Consider the ominous implicatioins of being able to look at your own face directly.

Same reason that you can never look directly at God.
Your eyes point in the wrong direction.

I would freak out if I somehow saw my face as is and not in the mirror! I'm scary looking anyway!!!
