There is a screw in sensor in your engine block and it is wired to your temp gage it could be the wire is off its contact at the sensor or the temp Gage or the sensor

Check your temperature sensor. It should be located somewhere near the thermostat on your engine block. Usually if you gauge does not work then your sensor quit on you. You can also see if you have a fuse specific to that guage but I doubt it.

if you temp. sensor only has one wire like most do unplug it and ground it to car engine block. the gauge should read all the way hot. if it does replace the sensor.if that has no effect then you need to check wiring between gauge and sensor and the gauge itself.
