A female mosquito bites to suck blood and it does so till its stomach gets full and distended. A ganglion on the stomach sends the message to the brain. In the event the stomach is not full, it will bite another person till it becomes full. This is important for the maturation of oocytes and finally in egg laying.

After a mosquito bites a person and fills it's stomach with blood it does not usually bite someone else straight away, but when it's supply of blood finishes, it goes and bites someone else again. Mosquitoes do not bite once in their lifetime.

Yes. One of the first things that adult mosquitoes do is seek a mate, mate and then feed. Male mosquitoes have short mouth parts and feed on plant nectar. In contrast, female mosquitoes have a long proboscis that they use to bite animals and humans and feed on their blood (the blood provides proteins that the females need to lay eggs). After they feed, females lay their eggs (they need a blood meal each time they lay eggs). Females continue this cycle and live anywhere from many days to weeks (longer over the winter); males usually live only a few days after mating. The life cycles of mosquitoes vary with the species and environmental conditions.

Oh yes they can! Ask me, I live in Africa! Mosquitoes can bite people more that once and this is what forms the basis of the spread of malaria. A mosquito bites a person infected with malaria. It then bites an uninfected person and in doing so transfers the malarial parasite.
