How old is he? What does he like? You should know him better than most people, so find something creative and tied to your relationship. If he likes music, maybe concert tickets. Or tickets to a sporting event, then you could go together :) Maybe a cool new hat or beanie. Use your imaginaion.

What you want to do when buying the perfect present is to...
sit down somewhere quiet, and think about this person you like or love. Think about why you like them, what problems they have, the life they lead. This is a very pleasant experience.
If you know that person, the perfect present will come to you. Wandering around shops looking means you forget the person you are shopping for.
My method has meant I have bought really cheap presents that people have loved....and when I don't use it, I buy expensive presents they hate.
The best thing is something to do with his hobbies and interests. But hey, you can also buy something like a cute cuddly stuffed animal.....but buy 2 presents...one manly present and one lovey dovey one.
