Ants are very fond of sweets, and have a keen sense of smell of honeydew and sugar.( antennae are special organs of smell, touch, taste, and hearing for the ants). Sweets supply energy for various activities of ants.

ants have very strong chemical sensors. they use these to detect chemicals/compounds that they need to survive, and usually, these compounds are components of sweets. this is why ants love sweets. :)
