I second Champollion. Also Sir Flinders Petrie, possibly Howard Carter, and - today - Zahi Hawass.

I suggest you run to National geographic website. They have phenomenal information. I was recently in Egypt for 10 days and saw the great wonders , not just these pyramids but things that dwarf the pyramids.

Someday you should visit Egypt.

Google for Champollion, he is the first one who managed to read the hieroglyphs.
