You can't vote for both, it's either the Big Unit or the Big hurt and why.

You must be a Frank Thomas fan to ask that question. Even more interesting is that you are comparing guys at two different positions - one who for most of his career has just been a hitter and the other guy is not even a hitter except when he pitches and has to fill up the ninth spot.
No way to compare those two

The most important thing right here is that Randy Johnson has won more baseball games for his teams then Frank Thomas. Randy will be second on the all time strike outs list. Second out of so so many. Frank Thomas has nothing of that sort under his belt. Nor has he been on winning teams. The point of baseball is to win and help your team win and Randy has done more of that. A nice career from the big hurt though. Lots of respect to him but Randy is the lock.

Even though both will most likely get in, the edge would have to go to Frank Thomas. Thomas is near the top in five offensive categories. HRs (493), Runs (over 1,420), RBIs (over 1,600), Doubles (465), Slugging Pct. (.566), and Total Bases (over 4,250). Randy Johnson excells in three categories. Wins (285), Shutouts (37) and Strikeouts (near 4,600). Let's remember that the last two seasons, the Big Unit has been less than stellar, while Thomas helped the A's get to the playoffs. Johnson would have had a much better chance had he retired over two years ago, when he started his decline.

Frank Thomas 2 MVP's 93 and 94
1 batting title at .347
495 Homeruns soon to be 500
1601 RBI's
1586 Walks

Thomas is the only player in major league history to have seven consecutive seasons of a .300 average, and at least 100 walks, 100 runs, 100 runs batted in, and 20 home runs (from 1991 to 1997). The only other player to have more than five consecutive seasons accomplishing this feat was Ted Williams with six

i would induct randy johnson because he dominates every time he pitches. he is very close to 300 wins (right he has 283) with 4605 k's and with an impressive 3.22 ERA and 218 opposite batting average; which are very similar numbers of a soon to be hall of famer called roger clemens.

i'mnot saying franks thomas is bad or not worthy but i believe johnson is more dominat at what he does and don't forget the CY young

Randy Johnson

Excluding his most recent performance on the Yankees, Randy Johnson has always performed well. Frank Thomas had a good year last year, but that only makes one of the past four years. And good pitching always beats good hitting.

Randy for sure. He's got a World series ring ( with Tampa ?) 5 or 6 Cy Youngs, when he retires he'll be 2nd or 3rd in all time strikeouts, he's thrown 4 or 5 no hitters and has over 300 wins. The dude is a for sure slam dunk the first year he's eligible and Thomas will make it too but Randy gets my vote.

Randy Johnson belongs in there. His Cy Youngs and playoff success are legendary. Frank Thomas will make it too, but if it HAD to be one, Johnson is farther above his fellow pitchers than Thomas is of his fellow batters.

Randy Johnson hands down in his career he has accomplished what some pitchers could not he is 3rd in all time strikeouts and could end up 2nd depending on Roger Clemens he has also been one of the most dominant pitchers in history as well as throwing a perfect game for the Diamondbacks.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Randy Johnson!!!!! Lets not forget he pitched a perfect game and a few no-no's. He is also 2nd all-time strikeouts. Frank thomas who? I know who he is, but he hasn't dominated the game like Randy has.
