Of course, they are coming and faster than the Japanese...
If the Japanese have reach the second rank behind the US economically, then China will beat both the US and Japan in the next 15 years. Also, they have a sligthly advantage over the rest of the world, they are too much!!!

by take over...you mean as a hegemon or some sort of dictatorial power? first of all, if u do mean hegemon, the country still lacks further development and realization in the areas of politics (it is communist...with a capitalistic tendency, which is hypocracy), economics (there are still millions of people that are unemployed, not to mention it is centrally controlled), technology (it does not boast or rank among the highest contenders for world dominance in technology; they do fabricate materials and parts, but mainly Taiwan is the more reliable source)...and among other reasons...
China is only recently emerging as a global power. It has an unrivaled population as far as number, so...a military build up is not a problem. Military is crucial to holding world power. As you can see the US has stations all over the world. It is politically aligned with many nations and manipulatively controls certain national political actions because of their dependency on it.
Now, China is currently trying to create the same bond with the nations of Africa; thus the continuous cash flow into the region...and in return expect their support. China is also laying low for now and allowing the world to knit-pick and criticize the actions of the US...which it will probably use in the future for its own benefits.
I can go on forever, but for so many immediate reasons China needs to tackle...and some hurdles it needs to overcome, it is not in the "very very near future" that China will take over the world---if ever.

I hope for it every day, they may be communists but at least the Chinese aren't a nation of cowboys, yahoos and idiots. I don't remember the last time China tried telling the rest of the world how to behave but to find the US doing it, hypocritically usually, all you need do is tune in to any major news service anywhere in the world.

Great as said nation might be, it will not happen. The Chinese are a wise people and they know that attempting to over-power the US will result in their demise.
In time, me thinks that we will become allies, against a power much greater than any we have ever known.

Not me. Most likely Japan will. They have the technology for it since they're the highest in those stuff right now. But then again...USA supposedly has the highest in military tech...I really don't know...But If you look on funnyjunk and watch "The End of the World" it's a pretty different ending...and WAYYY funny!

I hope and think that a strong leader will win the presidency and end this one way trade partnership with China. In a war right now, we would destroy them. Unfortunately, Bill Clinton sold them advanced nuclear technology and they are capable of nuking the U.S. Only by eliminating espionage (kicking Chinese born people and Chinese nationalists out of the defense industry) and stoping the flow of cash to Bejing, can America survive.

if they do it will be temporary because of their fertility restrictions. Islamic nations are having a baby boom while many industrialzed nations in europe, asia and america are commiting cultural suicide with plummeting populations.
radical islam will have the man power for world dominance.

I subscribe to that way of thinking.
They are just studying us like we were bugs in a petrie dish and we're too stupid to realize it. We're in debt to them. Our imports exceed our exports by astronomical statistics. Our jobs and industry is going over there and they are buying up property. Thanks Republicans for the wonderful 8 years you have given us - we're so screwed!
