Bush has proudly smirked and announced that he will stay in Iraq even if no one but his wife and his dog agree with him. So that leaves the mess for a new administration to solve. We started their civil war. We can not end it. We need to leave and let the people sort it out for themselves. As long as we are there we will have men defending their country from Bush and the Iraqi men Bush wants in power. We have always used lousy judgment when selecting leaders for foreign countries, and this is no exception. It might be even worse since Bush has so little knowledge of world history or events. We need to brings our troops home alive and non-maimed and let Iraq begin to clean up the mess Bush has given them.

One of the major plans that is being kicked around by some senators is dividing Iraq into three sections (same country) with Baghdad as the capital. Section 1 would be Shiite. Section 2 would be Sunni and section 3 would be Kurds. The three sections would share in the income derived from oil export and they would share equally in government. My opinion? It will never work because of the enormous differences between the various factions. Firstly, they hate each other. Secondly the Shiites are being controlled by Iran and they will never allow the Sunnis to be on an equal basis with themselves. The Kurds are completely out of the picture because they are different from the Sunnis and Shiites and do not wish to have anything to do with them. A rather complicated dilemma.

+ Get someone else to fight the war for them. Stage attacks on another Islamic country with evidence pointing towards Iraq.

+ Dispose of radical religious clerics in place of other radical religious clerics who are in the pockets of the US government.

+ Stage a coup in which the Prime Minister of Iraq is displaced by a radical cleric who promotes unity under an iron grip (of course once again in the pockets of the US Government)

I have more ideas but I'm pretty sure the guys at Langley are far ahead of me.

1. Get out
2. Let Iraqis determine their own destiny
3. Use the billions saved on Americans and the tax refunds they deserve
4. Allow the economy to thrive again and then focus on a foreign policy of doing some good for countries that actually need our help (like ending genocide in the Sudan).

first, get the troops out of there. it is a theocratic mindset that is being dealt with, not a political difference. the administration is trying to impose western idealism on a religious mindset incapable of accepting white anglo-saxon protestantism as a superior way of governance than the religious fundementalism they want to impose on the rest of the world.
the administration is using religous protestantism to deal with a muslim theocracy. because religion and politics are not compatible, any attempt to bring them together is doomed to failure as it has always failed.
thus the war in iraq is an execise in futility and will never be solved as long as a political solution is imposed on a religious nation when that nation will not set aside religious idealism and establish a secular state which tolerates differences of religious thought. any nation which is based on religion cannot be secular, and any nation which is secular cannot be steeped in religious idealism.
politics and religion do not mix, and religion brings out the worst in people because those people are easily led when they are told to believe rather asked to deal with what could prevent religious intolerance.

Well this answer is the brainchild of another poster, but the solution to get peace perfect peace is to make bombs filled with pig's blood and pork and the whole middle east will come to an abrupt halt, now you must admit it's tempting.
