It has a more important and significant name than all the other moons. It is THE MOON. All the other moons are named because they need to be different than the first and most important (to us) moon - ours.
It is like a singer who could be recognized by only the name Singer. If one singer was so much better than all the others that we didn't even need to mention his/her name, that would be special.

Giving other planet's moons names is a good way to separate them from our moon when we talk or write about them.

Our moon's name is Luna or Selene. No doubt there have been other names. Read 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress' for a good sci-fi about the moon.

It's name is Luna, we call it the Moon. Luna actually means Moon.
Other moons are called "moons" after the Moon, being an applicable term, but really they are all "natural satellites".

The reason why, is because the scientists think that no-one lives on these planets, but they make an interesting study, for they are indeed other worlds ; so they gives physical features, i.e mountains, moons, etc, exotic names , as identify-ing a particular case study.

We didn't know there were other planets with satellites until Galileo demonstrated his telescope and found a swarm of them circling Jupiter. The only names we had for such a satellite were the names we gave to our own satellite---Luna and Moon. So we called them moons.
