P.S. these stores do not have carpet & only certain metal that I touch; like when opening the fridge compt. to get milk (I usually use my shirt sleeve to open these)

If you were wearing shoes with rubber soles, it wouldn't happen (unless you are using both of your hands and thus complete a cicrcuit). Wear a rubber half sole (insert) in your shoes and use gloves (if cotton must be dry).

Wear a ring. I'm not sure about prevention, but if you let the ring (or keys etc) be the point of contact for the spark, it won't hurt.

Use rubber slippers as they will prevent conduction of electrons from ur body to the ground and if you want, you may use rubber gloves too!

Short of recommending you take a fabric dryer sheet and use that hand holding the sheet to open things or to grab things, no idea.

Try not to shuffle on carpet. Walk with as little ground contact as possible.

Maybe the material on your arms are rubbing against your body. Also when you try on new clothes, there is a fair bit or rubbing when u take things off and on.

Try wearing rubber or leather on your hands they are insulators.
