The pitching is starting to get healthy and come into its own. Let's not forget that even though they have a 10+ game deficit in the AL East, they are only 5 1/2 back in the wild card. They have 2 shots to make the playoffs....So now that their pitching is starting to come around and they are starting to get hits when they need them, you just can't count them out.

No. They got very fortunate today. They are currently playing a team whose owners only care about the bottom line (profit). They spend a measley $38 Million and put a team on the field and expect nothing. The Yankees should be able to beat teams like this on a regular basis, but had trouble in game one of the series. To compete in the AL East and try to get a playoff spot, they will have to do a lot better. With just one or two pitchers carrying the load, this will not be possible and I don't think the rest of the staff will step up, so the team better make a trade for a couple of starters very soon or say goodbye to the playoffs!

Good question. They've looked solid as of late. I really like Tyler Clippard. Even the gloomy baseball prospectus stated that he has 3 major league ready pitches and has the "potential" to be a "top of the rotation" starter.

Then you have Wang, Pettitte, Clemens and Moose. And Phillip Hughes will be back. I think it's all there. the million dollar question is whether or not it's too late.

I think they will in the long run. With Wang Clemens Mussina Clippard & Pettite the Yanks are going to be back on track very soon.

Because of Roger Clemens?? NO!! He pitched SIX innings, gave up three runs to the lowly Pirates, and is on his way to having a pathetic "return" to baseball.

Chow!!
