Dwight Freeney is good but not great; he's good enough to get double-teamed, but not great enough to fight through the double teams.
I think guys like Derrick Burgess and Jason Taylor are really, really good. And watch out for Will Smith of the Saints. He's not quite up there with Burgess and Taylor yet, but he's young, he's already very good, and he gets a lot better every year.

Are we talking 4-3 defensive end or 3-4 defensive end? Julius Peppers finished 2006 with 13 sacks and 48 tackles.
TheMyth's top 3 '4-3' Defensive Ends
-Aaron Kampman (Green Bay): Yes, I put a Green Bay Defensive player on my list. This guy was a beast last season (15.5 sacks, 89 tackles). Great versus the run and a great pass rusher, well balanced, not a one trick sack pony.
-Aaron Schobel (Buffalo): Finished 2006 with 14 sacks and 53 tackles.
-Leonard Little (St. Louis): Besides drunk driving and killing a woman the guy is a good player on the field. Finished 2006 with 13 sacks and 58 tackles.
TheMyth's top 3 '3-4' Defensive Ends
-Trevor Pryce (Baltimore): former defensive tackle finished 2006 with 13 sacks and 47 tackles.
-Ty Warren (New England): more of a run stopper, but still finished with 7.5 sacks and 84 tackles.
-Richard Seymour (New England): plays end and tackle: finished with 40 tackles but only 4 sacks.
TheMyth's top 2 "Tweeners" (DE/LB)
-Jason Taylor (Miami): 2006 Defensive Player of the year. 13.5 sacks and 60 tackles.
-Terrell Suggs (Baltimore): 9.5 sacks and 64 tackles.

I agree with the other guy that said Dwight Freeney. That guy has an amazing arsenal of moves to get to the QB. He's undersized and figured out the best way to use that to his advantage getting around bigger lineman.
