Is it ironic how low someone would go to "protect their supposed safety" You probably have 2 million times a greater chance of getting killed by a republican drunk driver then you do by some imaginary terrorist. I am not sure why simple minded conservatives cannot comprehend this. You are seriously a bunch of cowards for not having the courage to realize that by breaking down laws it does not equal prolonging your life.

It still blows me away how conservatives think that they can prostitute the foundation by which this country was founded upon by using terrorism as the excuse to do this.

As for myself, by either a terrorist, or a car accident, or lightning from the sky, when it's time to die, it's time die.

Sad.

And let's see here, how would you feel if your life was saved because the man that stepped in front of the bullet meant for you was leaving the apartment of the little 10 year old girl he had just been sexually assaulting? Should we then look the other way because a pedophile just saved your skanky @$$ because of his perverted actions?

Allowing the rights of some to be violated erases the line for everyone. Where is the line drawn? Do they only illegally tap people THEY feel are threats to the country? Because that could be someone that doesn't like the administration, or someone that has legal proof of wrong doing within the administration. You can't make the line black and white, then you can't make the line. A right is a right, and the law is the law.

Oh, thats easy, liberals just love big government. This would make a liberal very happy, and give them even more reason to trust the government and rely on the government to solve every little nit picky problem they have. Liberals do not stand for independent individual choices etc. Mob rule mentality. It would not matter if it was done illegally because if the government did it, it would have to feel good, be fair, and all of the other delusional things a liberal thinks and believes.

If a conservative had his phone line illegally tapped and found out it had nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism or protecting anyone... would they be happy or sad?

If illegal wire tapping has stopped terrorist plots, wouldn't the government that is catching so much flak about illegal wire tapping be only to happy to illuminate the details of such an occurence? Isn't saying they can't divulge details simply saying that this was unnecessary and an invasion of privacy?
If they're gathering so much evidence in this manner, why can't they take people to trial in a court room rather than simply illegally imprisoning people in countries like Cuba and Poland? If they're sure that this illegal wire tapping is necessary why can't they just apply to a judge for a warrant, or even just have an independent commission reviewing the necessity of their actions? What if they're not being totally honest or if in fact their using this information in corrupt ways?

Given FISA rules, there was never any need EVER for bush to tap phones illegally. That's the rub. He only did it for his own nefarious purposes.

Speaking of which, did you hear the amazing story Republican Comely told about Gonzales trying to subvert the constitution by pressuring Ashcroft as he lay in intensive care? Did you know most of the Justice Dept threatened to resign that weekend, because they all disapproved of Bush's illegal wire tapping?

I had to listen to c-span radio to learn about it, because the top story on cnn was paris hilton's dog falling out of her purse. damn liberal media.

They would very happily march right on down to the ACLU and sue the government.

Liberals will be happy after knowing that their lives were saved but might be angry if they knew that they were saved by wiretappers.
