Nope, only one modem can talk to the phone companies system at a time,

If wireless is not working for you and you dont want to lay a ethernet cable from a router that would connect to the modem to the second room you should try networking through your power lines. Check out the below link.

No. but you can buy a router and connect the ethernet cord from the modem into the WAN port on the modem and then connect your computers to the LAN ports on the router.

no... this would be pretty silly (and expensive)... the truth of the matter is, wireless is going to be your best bet... but the other somewhat annoying option is to buy a really long ethernet cable and run it to the second computer from a wired router... I'd call belkin again and bug them until they help you... thats what they're there for - if all else fails in setting it up, call geek squad (or something similar) and have them come and set it up for you

Renters laptop information superhighway connections are on DSL. Are you going to faucet into them or have your own DSL account setup with a modem. if so you do not choose a router, yet you may get one besides. Why? on the grounds which you have gotten added protection and much less probable somone could hack into your equipment utilising hardware firewalls. you will nonetheless would desire to apply application firewall. i prefer to advise one hundred% freeware from laptop kit Firewall Plus with XP and Vista. in case you get router get a instantaneous one from Dlink, there are some sturdy ones from them like DIR-655 instantaneous N, G, B Router. that is form of extreme yet you get your money nicely worth. in case you intend on switching to Cable Modem sooner or later. while you are going to have others connect with your DSL get the instantaneous router and 5 or 8-port swap from netgear Fs105 or FS108 (8-port swap) DSL - Modem ---- instantaneous Router ----- 8-port swap under pressure If the renters have their own DSL modem then you definately do not would desire to purchase addtional swap. in case you intend on including them to your account then you definately might get the swap and run Cat 5e cables for the period of the development. instantaneous is extra perfect as you do not would desire to run the cables. yet you will would desire to function get admission to component or extra perfect yet bridge repeaters thoughout the development. that's yet another determination to bypass..
