just keep the food in their cage/tank and if they get hungry enought they will eat it.. also try getting turdle food for them some times when they are small there mouths are too small for the big foods and the pellets in the can thing are smaller

1. Small turtles do not eat lettuce and carrots. For that matter, almost NO turtle should eat lettuce and carrots.

2. Most turtles bought in places like that are already ill and stressed.

3. Big changes stress turtles. Once you put a turtle in a new habitat it can take a few days before it eats.

You need to learn the basic needs of this turtle. Try http://www.redearslider.com for good ideas.

I own turtles from chinatown too. I've tried feeding them lettuce and carrots too, but they don't like eating it. Feed them turtle food. They are little pellets. You can purchase it from walmart or any pet stores. I've been feeding them turtle food for 5 years now. Hope that helps. :)

you're in for it now. First, get them out of the "dying bowl" you get carry of with them. Sliders desire a minimum of 15-20 gallons consistent with inch of shell, cumulative. They have been probable merely hatched and approximately an inch long, so as which ability a 40-gallon tank until they strengthen. they'll probable not consume for each week or 2, as they adjust to their new abode. you are able to try slipping small earthworms into their tank to get all of them started. Bits of liver dusted in bone meal are stable too. As they get greater, you are able to upload bait fishes to the tank so they are able to seek their very own nutrition. The liver will replace sunlight. in any different case, set up a UVB bulb over the basking website. Giving them sunlight is complicated. it could not have gone by means of glass and you ought to insure that the turtles do not overheat.

Ok, you need to stop trying to feed it lettuce and carrots. You need to go to the petstore and buy turtle food (you may need to break it up into small peices). They are little sticks. I got mine from Chinatown and they gave me turtle food along with them, and now they are huge.

Go back tomorrow and ask them what they were feeding him. That is if they didn't already tell you and it won't eat it. You can also call a Emergency Pet Hospital and ask them. If you don't have one in your area. Take it to the vet on Monday. He might just be scared. Good luck! I hope it starts eating.

You need to start researching this from the beginning.
Read some books on basic turtle care.
BTW, baby red-ears are primarily insectivores.
They also like earthworms and tiny fish.

Maybe it is a meat eater. Try some raw ground beef. If it is a water turtle, try a small feeder goldfish.

Hi. Call a vet and ask or maybe a pet store like Petsmart. The guys there are usually pretty knowledgable.
