Mr and Mrs Hourglass shouldn't be together. This sounds like a resident program in your memory that shouldn't be running. Most likely a worm virus. You'll probably notice your hard drive slowly diminishing. You'll need to either find a good virus removal package, or do a complete system restore using the disks that came with you computer.

Part 2

Normally you do have to leave your computer on for a scheduled event to happen. However, if you do leave it off, the scheduled scan you should start the next time you turn it on. I suggest you let it scan at least once every few days if you browse the internet at all.

This is a free spyware removal that works pretty well. Just let it update itself as often as possible. Also, use the Teatime feature, it blocks malware programs from changing registry entries like changing you home page, your search page, etc. As far as a free virus scanner, AVG used to be great, but recently started charging for their scanner. Your best bet is to spend around 29.99 on a years subscription to Norton Anti-Virus 2007. You'll have maximum coverage this way. Good Luck!

k well number 1 mouse, go to control panel, then goto mouse, then pointers tab, then click normal select, then browse and choose a new pointer, should work.

number 2 scan, yes u do but u can configure ur comp to turn on at say 1 buy going into the bios at the start up of the comp and setting a time to start and then u can make it shutdown by making a batch, open notepad and type this without quotes"shutdown -s -t 60", it will make the comp shutdown in 60 seconds, then save as "shutdown.bat" if u ever open this file accidently u have 1 min to click start then run then type"cmd", then type "shutdown -a" it will stop the shutdown, k now to schedule it, in control panel open scheduled tasks, then add a task, then next, then click browse and find "shutdown.bat" then choose the time period, daily, monthly, or weekly (dont choose when my comp starts or any other one because it will run everytime ur comp logons u want to set a time), then chosoe the time u want to shutdown so time ur scan then add about 15 minuttes just in case.

number 3 scanner, avg free from grisoft and ad-aware will take care of ur spy ware and ur virus, u can even set avg to run at a certain time.

You can't sererate the hourglass from the pointer. The hour glass indicates that there is some action taking place and it will go away when that action is complete. Yes you have to have your computer on to do any scheduled event. There are numerous virus and adware programs available. Do a google search and you will find an assortment to choose from.
