Interesting question, I have been thinking something like that lately. Yes, I do judge myself through the eyes of others. I think we all do to some extent so that we can adjust our behavior accordingly to fit into society. It's kind of fukced up in a way I guess. I've been feeling less and less concerned with what people think lately. I'm 40 now. I'm starting to look back and ask myself, "why do I need that person's approval. They're an ******!" Maybe that's why every body's grandparents act so weird because they know how stupid it is to act like someone you're not. So they don't act, they just be themselves.

That is impossible, the better question is "Do you judge yourself by comparing yourself to soemone else?" A person never truly knows what goes on in someone elses head. Therefore it is impossible to look through their "eyes" and judge yourself. You can only use what your perspective of what they would be thinking.

Well, I don't really judge myself at all, but it's more like I'm watching myself as another person, like as if I was a character in a movie, and I was just an observer., Sometime I stop and think "wow, did I just do that? Is that really ME doing this?"
it's hard to explain

Of course. It would be rather redundant to only use myself ALL the time.

The trick is, I pick and choose who I judge myself through. Husband, yes. Girl from work, no. Son, absolutely. Son's friends mother, not a chance. Best friend who has been dear to me for years, yep. People I used to know from high school, not on your life.

Works out nicely.

Never have, post-adolescent years. Leaving this behaviour behind is a sign of maturity.
