My husband does this all the time. He will mumble something in disgust directed toward me, and then when I say "what", he will say "nothing." This irritates me even more so I keep saying "what did you say?" And he will keep saying, "leave me alone." Does he do this just to drive me crazy--he may be succeeding.

Yes; I still say, "What?" However, once they say never mind, I ask what a lot louder and a lot more often.

Sometimes...it just annoys me when someone does that, I'd wish they never started the conversation to begin with!

Usually yes..unless they're annoying me with their talking and then say "nevermind" then no. But if they are telling me something and then just go "Oh, nevermind", yes, i still want to know.

It depends on who says it. Sometimes I'm simply relieved that the talking has stopped.

It makes me want to find out even more what it is that person suddenly isn't willing to say....and I am quite persistent, I don't usually give up 'til they tell me.
