I'm a girl and I loved it. It's a great story with great acting.
It definitely appeals to guys, but it has Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Mark Wahlberg in it!

I didn't think so. I couldn't believe the director got an Oscar for it. It was so poorly done. There was such good talent but the plot was soooo simple-everyone's a rat. And then the nasty critter running along the balcony rail at the end. Toooo boring. They could have done so much more. With movies like Babel, Pan's Labyrinth, and Forest Tuckers movie-the Greatest King of Scotland or something like that-how did The Departed win anything? I usually like movies done along the lines of the movie and I'm definitely a chick, but this was just too badly done.

It's definitely got a lot of machismo integrated into the plot, but I'm a girl, and I LOVED this movie. =)

Yes! it definitely is a VERY good Guy movie,,gangsters, blood, double crosses, good cops, bad cops
It has it all.- except romance, feelings, puppies, and discoveries of womanhood. Those would be chick flick traits.
