Is it important for people in U.S to have data about films they want to watch?or they watch them just for fun?

Everybody knows U.S is the most amazing country in film making on the world especially in it's Cinema industry city Center Hollywood. but i want to know is it important for people in U.S to have some information and data or sth about movies and films they wanna watch or before they go to theater?or they just watch them for having fun or something?
and do american people really love to have information about movies and cinema or not? in other word are them real cinema and film lover?

It depends. The big Hollywood blockbuster, just about anybody will go see without knowing anything. But if it's a small independent film, most people need to hear about, read a review, or get a good recommendation from a friend. As far as budgets, how much money its made, stuff like that, I don't think people care that much.

with the price of films, i would hope that people do some research before paying to see movies. i usually try to get some idea of what i am going to see. i try to at least see the movie trailers for some idea of the film.

and this movie is why i try to make more of an effort now than ever before to know the kind of movie i am going to see. the trailer showed a nice little fantasy film similar to The Neverending Story--but this movie is not that. there is an incident of devastating sadness in this film that had me angry (because i didn't see it coming) and little kids in the audience bawling their heads off as their parents tried to console them.

so i try to get more data now than ever before--but without getting any spoilers.

Well my daughter will watch about anything expect scary movies and I will watch anything expect stupid funny movies and my husband will watch all the action films he can get his hands on. But even though we like these types of movies we want to see if the story line is appealing to us so we like info before going to the movie
