Professional magic is 'sleight-of-hand' or illusion. It's all about tricking people into thinking they see what they don't, or vice-versa. It's easy to fool people without 'real magic', even large crowds. People see what they want or expect to see. As to whether you could learn it, of course - see if there's a magic shop in your area, or someone who's willing to teach you tricks. Most of the pros put in serious time learning the craft, and the best are very talented; it's like any other profession.

Hi Saji,
A very nice post. I like people who take keen interest in learning magic.
To start with, following are the types of magic:
1. Stage (Large number of audience)
2. Close up (With 5 - 10 people, with the magician seated along with others around a table)
3. Table Hopping Magic (Done in restaurants, where the magician go around the restaurant and perform for guests waiting for their dinner to arrive - ofcourse permission of the management is needed).
Magic is an art, its an art of demonstrating a miracle by deception and misdirection. In magic the intention is not to fool people, but to entertain them by the means of sleight of hand, drama, acting and gimmicks. Every Magician is an artist. He is an actor first and then a Magician. I say this because every Magician needs to play the part of the magician so that his audience is convinced that he is indeed a true magician
Anyone can learn Magic, depends on the type of magic that you are interested in.
Following are the branches of magic:
1. Cards
2. Coins
3. Ropes
4. Mentalisim
5. Magic with every day objects.
I am mainly a cardician (Card + Magician). I love to perform with cards.
To start with I will recommend that you buy "Mark Wilsons Complete Course in Magic" to get a complete overview of magic. This book contains all these forms of magic that I have mentioned above.
If you only like to specialize in Cards, then you should consider picking up either Royal Road To Card Magic and.or Card College. I would recommend that you pick Card College first. Royal Road to Card Magic is a classic book, but explanations in Card College is more modern.

PS: I recently have created a hobby site www.careercurry.com. Can you guys help me review it.
I am also soon going to start another site for magic. Will let you guys know.

IF U TALK ABOUT DAVID BLAIN'S MAGIC I cant tell. But the remaining magicians across the world just follow the tricks absolutely no power only tricky. The tricks they invent and they fool the whole audience making us hypnotise in his hands.U too can learn magic by simply buying a boxfull of magic tricks available in the modern market. Coming to DAVID BLAIN magic it is utterly no tricks behind complete natural powers.

It involves hypnotising. They are quick so that our eyes can't even catch their hand movement. It requires a lot of research and an analytical mind. A magician has a clear concept of fundamentals of science.

Most magic tricks on stage work based on distraction and slight of hand.
Basically, it means while he does something flashy with one hand, his other hand is sneakily setting up the trick without anyone noticing.
Yes, you can learn. There are tons of books and sites, just use google :)
