you could mow lawns, pull weeds for people for money, get a paper route, start asking all your friends parents if they have any odd jobs you could do for them for a little money.

4 gb nano cost only $200!! around $214 with tax! but talk to your parents about working around the house over the summer. like doing laundry cleaning, ect. without complaining and stuff.. i get paid about $20 a day for working 4-5 hrs. Try talking to your parent during the school year about getting money for making all a's or a's and b's on your report card. If you live in the suburbs then try sending out flyers to your neighbors saying you will water their flowers and feed/ watch their pets while they are gone. Walk neighbors dogs. Babysit and mow lawns. Put up a lemonade stand (i know it sounds like a 5 year olds way of making money but if its really hot and busy where you live you can make more than $20.) Try saving your coke cans and take them to a recycling place and you can make money that way. Try having a bake sale. Once you get the $200 you will probaly not want to spend it on just an iPod. It is a lot of money and expescially after you have saved. Also, try negotiating with your parents that you will pay for half the price and them pay the other half. These jobs are easy for a kid under 15 to do! i am 14 and that is pretty much all my summer jobs. i make money left and right!! so good luck with getting that iPod!

im also 11 and I got an mp3. It was only $50 and it would be a lot easier to save up for.It is also an FM radio and voice recorder. Mine is a m240 Sansa (made by SanDisk). Really the only reason for an iPod is "the special name". I hope you change your mind!

Or another thing you might like is the iPod shuffle. I think it is like $80. It is basically a Nano but without a screen (and skinnier of course)

Hope this helps!

I understand you want what others have but it will take time to earn the money. Perhaps for your birthday you could ask everyone to give you money toward the IPod.

To earn money you can ask the neighbors to do things for them, with a set price or let them pay what they think it is worth. You can wash a car outside, vacuum the inside, wash the windows inside and out. You can pull weeds, cut the lawn, rake for leaves. You can wash the house windows outside. You can clean up the doggie poop. Think about all the things that have to be done and offer to help the neighbor for pay.

Regardless what you do, do a good job, a thorough job. Then the person will ask you to do more and may tell others what a good job you do.

Why don't you try getting a paper route. That's honorable work that an 11yr old kid could do. Also, you could try mowing people's lawns in the summer and shoveling their snow in the winter time. You could also budget your allowance (if you get an allowance) from your parents/guardians. You could also offer to do extra chores around the house for pay.

Wait until you are old enough to get a job! If you REALLY want one - mow lawns for the summer and make the money so you can really appriciate how long it takes you to EARN $230....then go and spend it on something that can sit in the palm of your hand.

Negotiate with your parents that they pay you a little money every week whenever you do odd chores for them here and there, but you have to do a good job otherwise they wont pay you.

You could always wait until your birthday or christmas to ask for one later on.

Or you could get a job and make your own money to buy one.

Mow lawns
Babysit
Keep an eye on who's going out of town in your neighbourhood and collect their mail and care for their pets.
Walk peoples' dogs
Ask your parents for random jobs around the house and try to weasel as much cash out of them as possible.
Save all the money you get.
