There is no direct correlation between engine displacement and horsepower. One 1800cc engine may produce lots of horsepower, while another of the same size will produce more torque but not as much horsepower. It depends on the engine design and what it was made for...In general, a long stroke, slow turning engine will produce more torque but less horsepower than a fast spinning short stroke engine.
A typical example would be a 1400cc sport bike, like the Suzuki Hayabusa, which turns out almost 200 horsepower, while a larger 1500cc V-twin Kawasaki Vulcan is closer to 80 HP.

Many people have asked for a relationship between horsepower and cc or how many cc in a hp.
The short answer is about 15 to 17cc = 1 hp or about 1 cu.in. = 1 bhp for a modern car.
The full answer is complex - the power output of an engine depends on the state of tune as well as size, and the definition of horsepower must be considered, brake horsepower ( bhp ) or shaft horsepower ( shp ), and is not covered here.
Horsepower can be increased by engine tuning, more volatile fuel, supercharging or exhaust turbo boosting.

HP may not be as high as you'd expect, but that's probably not why you would buy an 1800cc moto. The torque will be monstrous. What that means is, any speed, any gear, twist the wrist and off you go. So don't go by HP numbers alone...you have to look at the whole package. Personally, I think engines that size in bikes is just plain silly.

yes, he's right. it depends on a lot of things. is it a 4 cylinder Acura or a 6 cylinder mazda mx3?
or is it a Vtwin from a big fat Suzuki motorcycle.
a 4 cylinder 1.8 acura gets 170 HP. a 1.8 V-6 from the old Mazda MX3 got 130 hp but sounded and felt smoother.
an 1800 suzuki M109 will not make as much horsepower as the 4 cylinder acura, but it will make a shedload more torque to twist you forward from a full stop.

It depends on more than just engine cubic inch 1800cc will have different hp depending on design, bore, stroke, cylinders etc... probably 180 to 200 hp for an average car

50 to 250 hp depending on year/make/model of engine. There are many factors involved in creating power, displacement being just one of them. Bore and stroke, valve size, number of vavles, number of cylinders, camshaft grind, intake and exhaust systems, normally aspirated or turbo/supercharged, ignition, compression ratio, etc, etc, etc...
