What do you like?
When you say 'Different,' I'm guessing you're after
something other than say, Beatles, Mariah Carey,
Zeppelin, Beyonce, and everyone 'we're all mostly
aware of...'--loosely speaking.
I'll pitch a few who aren't insanely huge names
as per above, and we'll hope for the Best.
This should be a fair start.

Pink Floyd
They are the definition of a band that has brains. their music is so deep and complex and emotional. I guarantee that you will be emotionally moved by their stuff, Plus, David Gilmour can kick out some awsome guitar solos.

The Academy Is...- they are one of the best bands, it is a type of rock/punk rock. they have really awesome lyrics and their music is really good.
i have soo many fav bands but this is one of them.
