It's significantly above average, which is reportedly about 6". I'm always a bit surprised at you long guys who think you're small, but http://www.lpsg.org , the Large Penis Support Group, reports it so regularly that I have to believe it. (I'm 4.5" myself, and not thick.)
There are other sites out there that give you the straight dope. Search "penis" on these Answers to find several that give links to such.

8.5 is a very nice size , the average size of the male penis is 4.5 to 5.5 inches . If you have anything above 6 then you are above average . You are very well equipped to handle either male or female partners .

no that;s too big. but don't be ashamed most people prefer them big.
Me for example like an average, maby slightly bigger size though, like 6-6.5 inches
