And if so, is it based on race, money, or a combination of the two?

Sure we do, but we don't want to admit it. Race and money play a part. There are always people who like to think of themselves as superior to other human beings. If they have more money or power or social standing, they will convince themselves it is because they deserve those things and others do not. One finds these attitudes even within families.

Of course we do!

Our caste system is based on money and social standing. And it is much more open than the religious castes of India or Japan, and aristocratic castes of Britain.

BTW, TR would have been insulted if you'd told him that he was not part of the upper class. A great man, but strictly Upper Class to the fingernails.

race.
anyone can get money or lose it. but you can't get out of your race. that is what a caste system is, you are born in it and stay in it.

Not officially, but there are people that won't associate with people they think are lower than them. It has a lot to do with money, as if they deserved to be born rich.
