where can i find some good leads on freelance jobs for structural engineers and or architects? i really want to start my own business but dont know where to start.

Start off by looking on careerbuilder.com and monster.com
You can search by contract jobs in your field. Also check out sologig.com and see if there are any freelance jobs.
Register with your Chamber of Commerce, and at least get some marketing material out there, with some examples of your work.

Honestly, the best way is to be employed by someone else for a while to see how the industry works. Do as much networking as you can. Volunteer for everything that will put you in contact with as many departments and as many customers as possible. After a few years, you will begin to see how you can carve out your own niche and get customers.
