I find that if my shirt's really long and covers my butt, it kind of maximizes the bulge of it and makes my butt look bigger. I think it depends on the type and material of your shirt, though.

Aha..it is in the eye of the beholder, and exactly what you want to achieve.

Just close your eyes and imagine the length of the shirt and the views thereof....Wanna hide a big butt? If the butt is big, you want your shirt to hit just below the middle, not too long or it will just stick out and look like a sack..if it is too short then it will draw attention to the butt. If you have a small butt, then why would you even ask...or care for that matter?

This would be easier to answer if I knew your body shape.
Generally, the most flattering tops end between the top of your hipbones, and the top of your your wrists. Tops that fit your shoulders/bust generally fit well in that area too.
Long, snug tops make the butt look bigger;
tops that end at the biggest part of your hips make them look bigger;
any top that is too tight will make the butt look bigger.

It also depends on what pants you're wearing. The most flattering is if you wear a longer fitted shirt that comes right about your hips.

Longer tops that aren't too tight can hide flaws. A longer top that is tight around the lower half may draw more attention.
