A decently established metal band like Lamb of God or Machine Head? I know thats the biggest part of their income more than CD sales.

That's kind of a difficult question to answer. There are a lot of factors that play into how much a band gets paid: 1) whether they're the headlining band on the tour or not - opening acts hardly get paid at all 2) how long of a tour it is 3) what size venues they're playing at - smaller venues may only pay $15 - $20 thousand, while larger ones may pay up to $300,000 4) what the stipulations of their contract with their record label is - a lot of record labels will take the majority of the money you make until you have paid them back for your signing bonus, recording time, production, and mastering 5) whether they're on a major or and indie label - indie labels typically don't cover as many transportation costs, but the bands also get to keep more of the money from their shows 6) etc, etc.

As you can see there are many factors that play into determining how much a metal band will get paid for a tour. And remember, most bands hardly make any money off touring at all unless they've made it HUGE. I will tell you this though, typically bands get to keep all the money they make off of mechandise and CD sales at concerts, that's why they're always trying to pimp their merch to you.

Led Zep was the 1st band who's manager actually figured out how to "profit" from touring back in the '70s. I talked w/ Van Halen, early - mid eighties. They said they tried to break even on tour expenses. I believe that's still the case today. That's why u see bands touring AFTER a new release. It's all about Promoting the album, or these days, the CD. As for your question, there are so many bands now, it all depends on what venues they play and how often. I made a good living for many years on a "low budget" tour & being hot in college radio... but it took both to make that happen. Best 2 U!

a band like those will make about 40-50 thousand a show....but there are expenses....each crew member gets 30-40 dollars a day for food and stuff called perdiem....the buses and equipment trucks anre about 2000 a day each..the crew get a weekly check of about 500-1000 a week each.. so the band gets about 4-5 thousand each a show..for band that big...but othe band that arent as big make maybee a hundred or two each a show..just enough to eat and motels.record labels dont pay them they half to tour and play to sell records they have to work to get paid

If they headline, including the T-Shirt Sales and all...before the manager gets his cut, the operation could rake in about 5 million from a world tour

this is after expenses of the tourbuses, planes, security, and venue costs

I have no clue, but you consider the buses, crew, stage show, lighting, instruments, party materials, rooms.....I'd imagine it's a pretty good chunk of change. Even if they only 5 bucks a head from ticket sales and 5000 people show. That's 25000 a show, not bad for doing something you love plus all the bonus sh!t that comes with it (cool people, chicks, meet your idols, chicks, travel, chicks). \m/

It's hard to say for so many reasons. Besides, any self respecting band would be doing it for the music and fans, and not strictly the money.
