I am a mother looking for ideas, I have a 9 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. And every year there is this costume contest. Usually my kids will win individual prizes but not as a family and i would really love to get it this year. Please help us out.

we did a fun one when my daughter was about 3, we were butterflies (black leggings, black turtlenecks, butterfly wings, antennae headbands and "butterfly" facepaint) and my husband (which your son could do) was a "scientist/bug catcher" (white lab coat, jeans, rubber boots, glasses with tape in the middle, mad-scientist hair...)

It was really really cute, and most of the stuff we had just laying around anyhow.

Last year, we did a family of 4, and my daughter and I did renaissance ladies with the dresses/headpieces, etc and my son and husband did knights w/ armor (last minute, didn't plan ahead like you're doing so we couldn't find men's renaissance garb for them)...that one was really really cute.

This year we're considering pirates/gypsies or if my son wins we all have to go dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I already vetoed the Scooby Doo gang, LOL)

Have fun!!! And good thinking planning ahead!!

Glenda the good witch or the wicked witch, Scarecrow or Cowardly lion or Tin Man, and Dorothy

Princess Lea, Luke Skywalker, and Yoda or an Ewok or R2D2

You could be Batman, son would be Robin, and daughter could be bat girl.

Morticia, Pugsly/Gomez, Wednesday

Mother Goose and a couple of her nursery rhymes. Your son could maybe be Jack Sprat, the Little Boy Blue, Simple Simon, or Peter Piper. Your daughter Mary, Mary Quite Contrary, Little Miss Muffet, Mary had a Little Lamb, or Little Bo Peep. Plenty of nursery rhymes you could use for your kids. Or all three of you could be Mother Goose nursery rhymes.

Maybe-
You as the Queen of hearts, son as Jack of hearts, and daughter as the 4 of hearts?
You as Glenda or the WW of the West, daughter as Dorothy, and son as Toto?
You could try going as some of the Strawberry Shortcake characters, there is a blueberry boy.
You as Alice in Wonderland and them as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
You could each be a type of candy- lollipop, starbright, and jolly rancher or bubble gum.
Or the 3 blind mice would be cute.

P.S.- she needs to know in June incase she has to sew them herself
