It's nice to remember the past. But why stay stuck there? I'd rather look forward. If you don't look forward you cannot ever grow up and be your own independent person.
It's great to be with people who have known you since way back when. But it also means that they still see you as, for example, that confused and scared teenager. You might be a succesful adult now, but "they" will always see you in the context of your young and clueless years.
