I'm fed up with Norton anti-virus. It is bloated even beyond Microsoft's comprehension. Ever since installing it on my XP machine, performance has creeped. Email delivery is fickle at best, especially with large attachments.

Here are my requirements:
1) Sleek design requiring little CPU power.
2) Ability to scan incoming email/websites
3) Virus definitions frequently updated
4) Ability to schedule virus updates/system scans (Windows' Task Scheduler is ok, if built-in solution not available)
5) Low price (tool and subscription fees should be reasonable)

Norton is absolutely the worst antivirus solution out there. Given the way it embeds itself into every aspect of your system, it is like malware itself. It is a resource hog, slows things down, and doesn't have the best detection rate (in all fairness, it doesn't have the worst detection rate either). Not to mention the bugs. A month or so ago, Symantec, creators of Norton, released definition updates that caused SEPM (a component of their current leading business security product) to take up all of the hard drive space on the servers it was installed on, leading to significant business interruptions for many companies. Avoid Norton like the plague. If you're serious about wanting to prevent viruses, your best bet is switch to Linux (Ubuntu is free and easier to use than Windows) or Mac. If something is prohibiting you from doing that, your best bet is ESET NOD32 or Vipre.

I have only AVG and Ad-aware personal, both of which are free and easy to download. Go to Download.com.

I had McAfee on the computer when I first most it, and it caused no end of problems, it kept conflicting with the computers' own security.
